Well it's been 2016 for almost a month now, and I've got to admit, I'm already in need of some re-focusing on my goals. So I've decided to put them out here, in internet land for accountability.
1. Wake up earlier
Waking up early in the winter is so hard for me. Normally I'm such a morning person, but as of late, this has not been the case. Last winter I used to wake up at 5 to work out.
Now it ends up being more like, I'll wake up at 5.. no 5:30.. no 6.. no 6:30.. shoot how is it already 7? guess ill wake up.. 10 more minutes.. ok now im up.. why am i so tired.. need caffeinated beverage first.. sits on couch.. does not work out. Although I've got to admit, I have been working out later in the day sometimes, and I kind of like it. I'm more energized and not as stiff. But I think I need to work out right off the back, otherwise I get thrown off for the day.
Also I like the mornings, besides the darkness this time of year, and the whole being tired still thing, I like the early mornings because they're quiet and I tend to get more done.
So I really need to start making an effort to start waking up early again! If anyone has any tips for this, pleaseee let me know!
2. Meal Prep on Sundays
Another thing I used to do. Well I sort of go through phases with this. But lately I've been slacking in the meal prep department, and it really does throw me off for the rest of the week. So I've actually purchased the Toneitup nutrition plan to inspire me to cook and prep more. I feel like I've been in a cooking rut lately, well more like a healthy cooking rut, tends to happen every winter, so hopefully this nutrition plan helps me get out of my rut and stay on target! If anyone else has any meal prep tips, or if you've tried the toneitup nutrition plan, let me know!
3. Drink more water
My daily water intake has been majorly slacking lately. Me and water drinking have never really been friends. I'm a slow drinker, and most of the time, unless I'm working out I don't really like drinking water- but I'm really going to start making a concious effort to do so. I think it would be a little too ambitious to say that I'll drink a gallon a day, so we'll just start with 8 glasses + an additional 8 glasses for every 30 minutes of working out I do that day
4. Less Sugar!!
This is a big one. I feel like lately my sugar addiction is been quite out of control. So i really want to work on dramatically decreasing my intake of sugar. I have a feeling this is going to be easier said than done. One thing I want to stop doing is rewarding myself with food and sugary treats- I need to find other ways to reward myself- so if you have any ideas for this pleaseee let me know!
5. More Cardio
As you can tell by now, most of my goals this month, as with half of the world this time of year, are health and fitness oriented. What can I say? other than these are pretty much my goals every other month of the year, not just in January and February. My cardio workouts have been slacking lately, as they do every winter because I hate running outside in the cold and on a treadmill. But I'm going to try and figure out a way around this. Once again, if you have any tips for this, let me know!
6. Daily home Yoga Practice
I tend to practice at home 2-3 time weeks now. As part of my getting up early regimen, I want this to include doing more morning yoga too!
7. Cricut Crafts
We've now gotten into my art goals for the month. I've had my cricut since June, and have only used it for a handful of crafts. So I want to try and have a night of cricut crafts every week! There are so many fun things I want to make, it gets so overwhelming! Any tips from fellow cricut crafters out there?
8. Etsy art eco projects
I have alot of etsy art projects I want to work on this year. I've been meaning to get back into making some eco-art for a while now!
9. Stop biting my nails!
I did really good with this for a while! But Ive been on a nail biting binge since the holidays! [ insert embarassed face emojji]
whew! thats it! A little ambitious, and I know that these goals will most likely end up rolling over into the rest of the months this year, but thats ok! Gonna take it one month at a time!
Anyone else have goals for this month?
